Welcome to our information page for High School physical education.  Our page is intended to inform you of our physical education program.

The Catskill High School Physical Education classes are designed to provide learning experiences that help empower students to sustain regular, lifelong physical activity as a foundation for a healthy, productive and fulfilling life.  Students will participate in: Individual, duel, and team cooperative games; sport performance specific and health performance specific fitness activities (enhancing muscular strength, muscular endurance, balance, speed, agility, flexibility, body composition and cardiovascular endurance); dance and movement aesthetics; outdoor adventure activities; and personal challenge activities.  Through class cooperative movement activities, students will have opportunities to enhance social health.  Students will be given responsibilities that include processes of following rules and establishing an environment free of tension and anxiety.  Students will display: respect for themselves and others; leadership; cooperation; communication; safety awareness; injury prevention and treatment; problem solving; conflict resolution; decision-making; diligent work habits and integrity.  Personal health/ fitness plans and lab will be implemented including further opportunities to enhance fitness knowledge and personal awareness, accomplishment, pride and self-esteem.  Students will become aware of community and school fitness resources and will engage in sport/ fitness career exploration.

Students are graded on a daily basis using a 0-5 grading rubric, 80% of grade is daily class performance; other 20% is lab requirements.
